CEP is hosting a viewing and discussion of the film An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power After the film, we will walk over to 7 West Cafe where our special speakers Lubna Seal and CEP president Kimberly Rafuse will lead us through a conversation about Climate Change. Both Lubna and Kimberly are Climate Reality Leaders, trained by Al Gore himself.


About the Film:

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is a 2017 American documentary film directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk about former United States Vice President Al Gore's continuing mission to battle climate change. The sequel to An Inconvenient Truth (2006), the film addresses the progress made to tackle the problem and Gore's global efforts to persuade governmental leaders to invest in renewable energy, culminating in the landmark signing of 2016's Paris Agreement.

About our Speakers:

Lubna Seal worked at the Toronto Environmental Alliance as the New Donor Development Manager. She has experience in climate change research, advocacy, and campaigning. Before coming to Canada, Lubna was working for Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) as one of the lead investigators for a UN Women climate change project titled “Reducing vulnerability of women affected by climate change through viable livelihood options” She has a Master's of Climate Change at University of Waterloo.


Kimberly Rafuse works for a large global reinsurance company. Her work focuses on industrial risk control, and she is also involved with a consultancy on climate change and financial institutions.  She has worked with industry, non-profits, and in consulting. She has a Bachelor's of Engineering, Chemical/Environment, and a Master's in Environmental Security. Kimberly currently serves as President of Connecting Environmental Professionals Toronto.
