James Watson, Founding Ninja at Green Meeting Ninjas, has been working with Ryerson University's Sustainability Matters program over the past 2 years to on a campus-wide approach to sustainable events. That work has included working with the Convocation and Awards Office to help plan the university's fall and spring convocation ceremonies in a more sustainable manner.

For the upcoming Ryerson Talks: Sustainability event, James will share his experience working with Ryerson University. Furthermore, he'll begin to address some of the popular misconceptions in sustainable event planning.

For instance, a lot of commonly understood “green event" initiatives tend to focus on things like waste and materials use. The true impact of an event, however, is so much more than that, and we need to look beyond “going paperless” initiatives and water bottle bans

Before the presentation while people are arriveing and following the presentation too, there will time dedicated for networking. It will be a great opportunity to meet sustainability professionals and students of all stripes. Please see the agenda (above) for more details.
