Calling all Peel and Toronto educators. Join Ecosource & York University for three FREE 2-day Professional Development Courses

Are you interested in creating a vermicomposting system at your school? Do you want to learn more about growing food for your curriculum or how to build a solar oven? Do you want to understand Environmental Education Policies in Ontario or strategies to fundraise for a school environmental project?

For the fifth year, Ecosource and York University’s Faculty of Education will be offering 3 unique professional development certificate courses focused on Environmental and Sustainability Education. The program will offer hands-on learning to selected educators interested in learning about the latest tools and strategies for environmental education.

MODULE 1: Food Systems & Gardening for the Curriculum

  • Saturday March 7th 2015 (10am-3pm) – Iceland Teaching Garden and Hershey Iceland Sports Complex (Mississauga)
  • Saturday March 28th 2015 (10am-3pm) – York University

MODULE 2: Composting, Waste, and the Whole School Approach

  • Saturday April 11th 2015 (10am-3pm) – Brentwood Library (Toronto)
  • Saturday April 25th 2015 (10am-3pm) – York University

MODULE 3: Ecosystems & Stewardship in School Communities

  • Saturday May 16th 2015 (10am-3pm) – Brentwood Library (Toronto)
  • Saturday May 30th 2015 (10am-3pm) – York University


  • Tool kits, resources, and lesson plans
  • Instruction on writing grants for environmental projects
  • A Certificate of Recognition issued by York University
  • Ideas and points towards EcoSchool Certification
  • Hands-on workshops and field trips
  • Full scholarship covering course registration fees
