Kimberly Rafuse


Kimberly is passionate about sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, climate change and risk management.  

She currently works for a large global reinsurance company and her work focuses on industrial risk control, and she is also involved with a consultancy on climate change and financial institutions.  She has worked with industry, non-profits, and in consulting. She returned to Toronto from Calgary in 2015, and was previously a Board Member of Connecting Environmental Professionals (CEP) Calgary.

She has a Bachelor's of Engineering, Chemical/Environment, and a Master's in Environmental Security.  

Mayur Mukati

Vice President

Mayur has undertaken academic and professional endeavors in seven countries spanning three continents. He has work experience in Fortune 500 companies in chemical and pharmaceutical industries, an NGO in sustainable urban development research, as well as e-commerce development. He has also spearheaded a small non-profit NGO in child education and curriculum development in the past. 

He is a Chemical Engineer, LEED Green Associate, and a Dean’s List Scholar from the University of Toronto’s MSc. in Sustainability Management. Currently, Mayur provides market intelligence at MaRS Discovery District to Canadian clean technology ventures and international utility companies. Additionally, he is a part-time graduate student in Financial Engineering. 

He was nominated as 2016 Top 10 Nudge Global Leaders in the Netherlands among 80 young professionals in sustainability from Unilever, Danone, Heineken, BNP Paribas, and others. In his spare time, Mayur enjoys watching movies and documentaries, playing bowling and board games, and eating out with friends.


Madeleine Lee,

Director, Marketing

Madeleine is an eager newbie to the world of environmental stewardship. Having completed her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph, she comes from a background in marketing, advertising and marketing strategy. She currently works at a consumer experience agency as a Senior Account Manager. 

She is driven to make terms like circular economy and sustainable development top-of-mind for the average consumer, and wants to live in a world where consumers’ everyday decisions put the environment first.

An experience addict, she tries to spend every moment of her spare time outdoors or trying new things.

Sandy Creighton

Director, Member Relations

Sandy works as Data Director at Pivot Strategic Consulting, a policy consulting firm based in Toronto. At Pivot, Sandy manages the development of an online microtargeting mapping tool used by environmental organizations to aid their campaigns and lobbying efforts. Prior to working at Pivot, Sandy worked as Outreach Coordinator at GreenPAC and Report Analyst at ERIS. Sandy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Psychology and a post-grad certificate in Applied Digital Geography and GIS from Ryerson University. 


Sandy believes in the importance of creating lasting interdisciplinary connections, especially in the field of environmentalism.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, attending speaker events, and playing with her pets. She is passionate about social change, waste management and responsible urban planning.

Yvonne Ho

Director, Events

Yvonne is an environmental professional with a background in environmental science and sustainability. She has several years of work experience in the environmental non-profit sector— carrying out research on key environmental issues, writing reports and educational articles, executing membership development and outreach initiatives, as well as implementing marketing and communications plans for campaigns. She has a keen interest in renewable energy, impact investing, circular economy, and sustainable development.

Prominent not-for-profit environmental organizations she has volunteered at and worked for include Sierra Club, Environmental Defence, Ontario Sustainable Energy Association, Toronto Environmental Alliance, and Pollution Probe. Yvonne is motivated to work together with like-minded people and organizations towards greater environmental justice and more urgent climate action.

Humaira Zahid

Director, Career Development

Humaira is a global professional with experience over the span of 14 years in international development, public sector transformation projects with a focus towards organizational development, change management, learning solution design and research capacities to introduce best international practices. 

She holds an MBA coupled with various certifications and undergone multiple professional development programs.

As a lifelong learner, she is zealous about building solid relationships, solving complex challenges and creating innovative and sustainable solutions to ensure that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives and economic, social and technological progress occurs in harmony with nature.

She loves travelling, outdoor activities and is an avid hiker.  

Shubham Rusia

Director, Finance

Shubham comes from an engineering background and has worked with a Big 4 consulting firm in the past. He recently completed his MBA from Rotman School of Management and is currently working at TD. During his free time he enjoys exploring new places to eat and reading on current events.

Leor Rotchild

Leor has a passion for using business as a force for good and his super power is getting the right people to the table to get things done. 

After several years in the energy sector, Leor co-founded a BCorp certified startup business that provides zero-waste management and carbon-neutral solutions to large music festivals and sporting events. As of May 2017, Leor is now Executive Director of CBSR

He consults to corporations, non-profit organizations and governments on communications strategy, stakeholder outreach, and social & environmental program development. 

Shawna Weisberg


Panos Panagiotakopoulos, PhD Advisor

Shawna is a passionate social impact professional. She brings this enthusiasm to her role as Executive Director of Ceridian Cares, a charity that bridges the gaps for individuals when public and private support systems are not enough to meet their basic needs. Previously, Shawna managed a corporate grantmaking portfolio with the Community Investment team at CIBC, and spent several years leading a national employee donation campaign for TD Bank, raising over $11 million annually for charities across Canada. She has also managed many Employee Experience and Employee Engagement initiatives.


In her spare time, Shawna has been an artist and illustrator for over 20 years.

Panos is a sustainability researcher and consultant with more than ten years experience in coaching organizations to assess and integrate sustainability. As principal and founder of the boutique consulting Close the Loop, Panos has advised companies from the agricultural, real-estate, construction and retails sectors on climate change, life cycle assessment and sustainability. He has also provided training on these topics to professionals and students in Canada, Europe and Asia. He was recently a business coach for the 2017 Agents of Change: Climate Solutions accelerator of the Centre for Social Innovation and was involved in the design of Bob Willard’s Sustainability ROI Workbook.

Panos studied Environmental Engineering and holds a PhD in Corporate Sustainability from Heriot-Watt University (Scotland). He has published academic papers on corporate sustainability and as part of his latest research project he developed an online tool to help businesses choose effective sustainability certifications (ecolabels) for their products and services.

Panos is a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto and Seneca College, teaching Engineering Systems and Corporate Sustainability. He is also a member of Better My Business and The Roots Collaborative.
