CEP Toronto is looking for a Director of Finance


  • Develops and manages budget
  • Manage banking requirements
  • Manages legal and insurance requirements
  • Identify sponsorship opportunities
  • Support management team on finance and legal issues
  • Manage volunteers required for responsibilities and tasks
  • Promotes the organization
  • Manage external partnerships
  • Liase with advisory panel and/or board of directors if required 

A note from our previous Director of Finance; As director of finance and development I worked with the management team to develop and finalize the yearly budget. Keeping track of expenses throughout the month was key in order to always have access to an updated financial profile. Being available to attend monthly meetings was important so we could always plan CEP's events as a team, and attending and coordinating finances at events was definitely one of the many highlights of the role!

Time Commitment: 4-6 Hours/week variable.

We are also hiring for 2 Advisor Positions

We are looking for two Advisors for CEP Toronto to assist in shaping and giving direction to the organization. Our Advisors should be well established individuals in the Toronto sustainability community.


  • Provide strategic guidance to CEP Toronto’s management team about the development and improvement and the organization. 
  • Help to make connections between CEP Toronto and the Toronto sustainability community 
  • Enhance visibility of CEP Toronto within the greater Toronto area 
  • Review strategic program and growth initiatives brought forward by CEP Toronto 
  • Assist with obtaining speakers for our events to attract new and existing CEP Toronto members 
  • External communication support through the sharing CEP Toronto announcements, resources and events • Provide any insights or overviews of major sustainability trends that CEP Toronto should be made aware of to remain timely and relevant within the sustainability community 

Typical Matters of Advisor Involvement:
  • Introduction to strategic members of the Toronto sustainability community 
  • Attendance at CEP Toronto semi-annual strategy meetings 
  • Introduction to individuals that may be prospective management team members 
Time Commitments:
  •  Attendance at CEP Toronto meetings, approximately 4 times per year which includes the semi-annual strategy meetings 
  • Intermittent connections with mainly through the Vice President on any matters that require Advisory support or feedback 
  • Names and biographies of Advisors will be listed on CEP Toronto’s website on the Management Team webpage.
